I am a full time model and freelance graphic designer. I have been doing modeling full time for 5 years now and not plannimg to stop soon. I believe if you give everything you’ve got, work hard for your goals and keep your eyes on the Lord, you will be blessed twice as much.
1.When did you first realise you wanted to be a model?
When I was younger I used to watch my cousin walk the ramps of fashion shows and I wanted to experience the same. After modeling schools it finally was my turn, after that I immediately knew I wanted to do this for a career.
2.At what age did you first start modelling?
I started doing modeling at the age of 10, but only started doing it full time at the age of 20.
3.What was your first big break and how did it arise?
I was scouted for Top Model South Africa, but was debating whether I should enter or not, so I entered just before entries closed. After months of preparation and hard work, I was crowned Top Model South Africa’s Beautiful Fresh Face 2017 Winner and things have been going well.
4.What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
Besides completing my BA degree in Graphic Design, my biggest achievement is winning Top Model South Africa’s Beautiful Fresh Face.
5.How do you like to stay fit?
I like to stay fit with Pilates and Yoga as it helps with stability, flexibility and posture. I also enjoy boxing or pliametrics as cardio and combine it with a bit of weight training and resistance training. I believe in keeping your body guessing so that it does not get use to one type of exercise.
6.What’s your favourite food?
I don’t have a specific dish that I like most, but I love Asian and Italian food.
7.Any advice for people wanting to start modelling?
Start early, study top models’ work closely and keep track of the latest fashion trends and social media trends. Always be open to new ideas and techniques and stay strong and confident even through the toughest critique. Most importantly, always be yourself.
8.What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
I am quite forgetful, so the other day I forgot where I left my phone. We did an entire search through the house and found it . . . in the fridge. Yes, food is my distraction.
9.What’s song best describes you?
The song that best describes me is definitely ‘Rise’ from Katy Perry, because I have been knocked down so many times, but I will always rise above my challenges.
10.What would you be if you weren’t a model?
I would either be a animal rescuer or a illustrator/ visual artist.
11.Tell me something about you not many people know?
My eyes are generally blue-grey, but depending on my mood, circumstances and the weather they change colour. They vary from bright blue, dark blue, gray or green.
12.What do you like doing in your free time?
I like to try new food recipes, spend time with my animals, watch movies or series . . . oh and shopping of course.
13.What do you think is the most interesting thing about you?
My name. Most people I have met struggle with my name, so they just give me nicknames. It’s a combination between my grandmother’s name ‘Anita’ and the name Natasha, so definitely unique to me.
14.What was your nickname at school?
Tash or the art-chick
15.What three things do you need to be successful in this industry?
Confidence, a unique look and modeling skills.
