We recently had the peasure of getting to know the lovely Dolly Loco through our 15 question mini interview. Dolly started modelling professionally at between 17 and 18 years of age and has gone on to be featured in magazines. However, dancing is her passion and Dolly has managed to combine the two beautifully into a wonderful career!

1.When did you first realise you wanted to be a model?
To be straight up with you, I never dreamt about becoming a model. I kind of just fell into it. I was always performing the Spice girls with my sisters and dreaming of becoming a pop star. I’m a professional dancer, that’s my main career, modelings just came hand in hand alongside. It’s real cool though. I’m very grateful for the opportunities fate has given me.

2.At what age did you first start modelling.
I think I was 17/18 professionally. But before that I used to turn down things (stupidly!) because I suffered really bad from confidence issues and didn’t think I was ‘pretty’ or ‘good’ enough. But damn, photoshops a blessing ay.

3.What was your first big break and how did it arise?
My first be break was when I was 17/18, really fresh to the business which shocked me. I remember most of my images won gold awards and was featured in various magazines. That was pretty sick seeing myself on the shelves after putting myself down so many years before hand.

4.What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
Biggest achievement so far, hmm well I’ve graduated, I’ve traveled, I’ve done some pretty cool stuff within my short career. This is going to sound so cliche but, making my family and friends proud. I’ve smashed so many personal goals and achievements that always seems to shock them. I’m like the wild card.

5.How do you like to stay fit?
Fit? Ha if you seen me slobbed on the sofa right now with my treats. I’m not a gym person. I think it’s important to stay fit and healthy but I get there and either chat to someone or pretend I’m doing sit ups when actually I’m just having a nap on the mats. I dance professionally so that helps! Just apart from that, nothing.

6.What’s your favourite food?
Food is very important! I’m a big eater. You’ll always catch me in your cupboards searching for something. I’m a Cornish bird so Pasties all the way. I’m a sucker for a Chinese take away though.

7.Any advice for people wanting to start modelling?
I’m a bit relaxed within my career so I’d say just have fun. Don’t ever be to hard on yourself. There’s more important things in life to worry about. There might be so many ‘beautiful’ people at that audition but nobody is you. Please don’t get upset or blame yourself if you didn’t get that ‘dream job’ because everything happens for a reason. A better thing will come along if you stay focused and don’t stress. Personality is most important to me. Be yourself, always. Never pretend to fit in or look a certain way. Looks will fade but personality will never stray.

8.What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
Mate, funny things happen to me all the time. I’m a walking joke.

9.What’s song best describes you?
My favourite song is RUN DMC it’s like that, man I will rap that for days. But what describes me would probably be Tina Turner, simply the best. ha Just joking!

10.What would you be if you weren’t a model?
Well I’m a dancer so I guess i’ll be doing that. Still wanna do my nursing and I guess become a pop star so I can fulfill the little 5 year old mes dream and say…we made it!

11.Tell me something about you not many people know?
Well, growing up my family never went on holiday abroad. At one point I thought it was in ‘The Truman Show’ you ever seen that? Thought they just wouldn’t take me as I’m surround by screens/cameras. So when I was 20 something I got a passport and secretly booked a flight to Cyprus (because then the ‘producers’ wouldn’t know lol) And flew out. Man I was shocked when I actually landed in Larnica I can tell you!

12.What do you like doing in your free time?
Free time I see my family as much as possible. I’m obsessed with my little nephew. He’s my best friend. I love spending time with the people that give me good energy. Then I just either eat and watch family guy or sleep. Ha. Na I get very itchy and just book somewhere to travel too, been away five times this year just for bants.

13. What do you think is the most interesting thing about you?
Ooh, you’re going to have to ask my family and friends. I’m not one to talk about myself in a good way. I don’t know really. I know I’m very soft hearted and care a lot, maybe a little too much.

14. What was your nickname at school?
Was mainly CAB, my initials, blondie or Caz. I’m sure I got called other things too but best not type that.

15. What three things do you need to be successful in this industry?
Dedication is key, don’t ever give up just because one job didn’t come through.
Believe in you, because like I said there is no one out there in the world that’s you!
And I guess don’t just take ‘jobs’ because you wanna ‘make it’ find and go for the right jobs for you. Never compare your success to anyone else because you’re on a completely unique path that’s all yours.
