I’m never quite sure what to put for introductions, whether it be labels given by society, or who I intend to be. Hi, I’m Holly, and I try to grow by learning about myself and the world around me as much as possible. Nice to meet you.
1.When did you first realise you wanted to be a model?
A couple years ago – I felt rather vain with all the selfies I took, and realized I’ve always had an affinity for being a ham in front of the camera.
2.At what age did you first start modelling?
I got into the agency WMA Rochester last year, when I was 22. I’ve done a little bit of modeling before then though, for Monroe Community College in 2013.
3.What was your first big break and how did it arise?
Acting in Brianna Collichio’s music video, “Glow in the Dark.” I found an add on Facebook, actually, looking for people to play in a crowd.
4.What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
For life or modeling?
I’ll list both, I suppose. For modeling, that I pursued my dreams and was accepted into an agency after practically no background knowledge.
As for life, continuing to live and push through my past, and being true to myself, learning who I really am and what I want in life.
5.How do you like to stay fit?
I try to eat healthy – I have gluten and soy allergies, so that cuts out a lot of junk food already. I hate exercising, to be quite honest. But I love taking walks and belly dancing, plus the occasional game of kickball.
6.What’s your favourite food?
Ice cream.. Yeah, definitely ice cream.
7.Any advice for people wanting to start modelling?
Do your research. Practice, and do different poses or styles outside your normal preference to gain experience, and most importantly, keep trying. I didn’t get into all the agencies I applied to. And with WMA Rochester, I was rejected the first time. Guess what? I went right back to the next casting call and got in. Show them how much you want to model.
8.What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
When I was at my SO’s ultimate tournament. He was so excited to get to his next game that he started driving while I was still standing outside the car with the door wide open.
9.What’s song best describes you?
It would have to be a mashup of songs – it really depends on the day and mood.
10.What would you be if you weren’t a model?
I would still do everything else I do, especially being a student. I just wouldn’t be a model.
11.Tell me something about you not many people know?
I have borderline personality disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, and ADHD. I have possibly undiagnosed endometriosis, and I have monocular diplopia. I used to view them as negative qualities, but now, I try to find the strengths in having them. I don’t let my pain stop me, and I do my best to take good care of myself. It’s always a debate in my mind how much to tell people though, because I’m not looking for pity, but I am genuinely affected every day. It is what it is.
12.What do you like doing in your free time?
I enjoy spending quality time with close friends, or time in solitude. I love to think deeply and philosophically, just observing the world around me. But because I have ADHD, I also like to knit, read, paint, draw, write (poetry), walk, belly dance, and the list goes on.
13.What do you think is the most interesting thing about you?
There is always something mysterious about me. People who have known me for most of my life are still surprised at times.
14.What was your nickname at school?
Hollicus, Hollifer, Holly-Bolly-Buckin’-Boo. I was told I was “random” quite often, too.
15.What three things do you need to be successful in this industry?
1) You need to want it.
2) Always learn and continuously work on improving. There is always room for growth.
3) Stay humble. You are the model, not the director/photographer.
And most importantly, have fun.
