Discover the beautiful Jordana Balascomore who has managed to combine motherhood with a successful modelling career. She has even been published in Vogue… we think it counts to! 😉
1.When did you first realise you wanted to be a model?
I don’t think the realisation of being a model hit until my late teens and early twenties. However, I think modelling and being in front of a camera was always in me from an early age.
2.At what age did you first start modelling?
I was published in a UK breaks holiday brochure when I was 3 but it wasn’t until I was around 18 that I finally got the confident to take it further and when I was 22 I came 5th in ‘Miss Bournemouth’.
3.What was your first big break and how did it arise?
For me it was entering a competition to be ‘The face’ of a local hairdressing salon and I won! I got to fly to Budapest to shoot with a fantastic photographer and was on the cover of a local magazine as well as all the advertisements for the salon in which they advertised in Vogue, so I guess I can say I’ve been in Vogue! 😉
4.What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
In my modelling it has to be the shoot I did in Budapest but outside of the industry it would have to be my three children!
5.How do you like to stay fit?
My brother is a personal trainer so he puts me through my paces and having 3 children under the age of 8 keeps me very active! I like to roller skate too.
6.What’s your favourite food?
I’m half Italian, so it has to be my families authentic cooking that’s been passed down through the generations. I will never say no to some Parma Ham and a bowl of pasta.
7.Any advice for people wanting to start modelling?
The modelling industry is a hard one to crack, prepare yourself for knock backs but keep going, keep positive. Your personality is just as important as your physical appearance so remember I smile goes a long way.
8.What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
I was going out for dinner with some friends and to start the night I invited them round for some pre-dinner drinks. Thank goodness I did because one of my friends arrived wearing the exact same dress as me!! I suppose great minds do think alike!
9.What’s song best describes you?
Can’t stop the feeling by Justin Timberlake. When I hear music I just have to dance. It makes me happy!
10.What would you be if you weren’t a model?
A weather girl or maybe a geologist! I currently work part time at Karen Millen and love helping and styling my clients.
11.Tell me something about you not many people know?
I’m obsessed with all things ‘weather’ and would love to chase a tornado!
12.What do you like doing in your free time?
Shopping! Baking, being creative and spending time with my family.
13.What do you think is the most interesting thing about you?
Perhaps the fact that I’m half Italian and all the things it brings, like the inability to be able to speak without waving my hands around and generally being loud and passionate!
14.What was your nickname at school?
15.What three things do you need to be successful in this industry?
Confidence, resilience and the ability to make people remember you and stand out from the crowd.
