The lovely Sarra is still very new to modelling having only started a few months ago. However, judging by the images below she has taken to it like a duck to water. Her mini interview is a brilliant insight for those just starting out or considering entering the industry.
1. When did you first realise you wanted to be a model?
I have always wanted to be a model but I was never allowed to in my family, also I was always thinking that I wasn’t “pretty” enough or “tall” enough but a few months ago I took a leap of faith and realised that if I didn’t do it now then I would never do it and I deserved to do something that I have always wanted to do. It was the best decision I made, I absolutely love modelling. It gives me so much confidence.
2. At what age did you first start modelling?
I started a few months ago and I am 19. I am currently a freelance model.
3. What was your first big break and how did it arise?
I am pretty early in to my modelling career, and I hope that at some point I will be able to do modelling full time which is my dream.
4. What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
I love that I have been able to work with some amazing photographers and that they feel that I have great potential, which means a lot.
5. How do you like to stay fit?
I love to stay fit by doing squats and other numerous body toning exercises, also I love zumba, but truthfully I am not always doing just that, I love my food and every now and then you’ll catch me on the sofa watching “Big Bang Theory” eating huge tub of chocolate ice cream all to myself.
6. What’s your favourite food?
My favourite food is curry if I would have to choose a savoury dish but overall I am very in to my sweet treats.
7. Any advice for people wanting to start modelling?
The main thing is to just have fun because if it isn’t fun and you don’t enjoy it then what is the point in doing it. You need to remember that there is all sorts of sizes and types of beauty within the industry and everyone is beautiful in their own and way, you should stand for your style and personality and don’t pretend to “fit in”. Stand tall and proud for what you stand for.
8. What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
You would have to ask my partner, hahah we are always joking about.
9. What’s song best describes you?
I wouldn’t really say that I have a song that best describes me because I have a very mixed personality, one moment I’ll be listening to 50 Cent then the next classical music and then Beyoncé or Sleeping with sirens hahaha.
10. What would you be if you weren’t a model?
Well I am gaining experience to become a chef as I went to college to study the catering and hospitality industry. I would love to be able to become singer and incorporate my modelling skills in to that.
11. Tell me something about you not many people know?
Not many people know that I sing and that I love dancing. I would love to pursue my dream to become a singer and combine modelling and being a pop star hahha. I am quite shy about it but I am working on it so I can share my love for music.
12. What do you like doing in your free time?
In my free time I love to design my very own clothing, I am a very creative person. Also I am a huuuuuge book worm and love my fantasy books. (Yes the whole vampire and werewolves thing hahah). Also I love singing and sketching.
Overall I am a very creative person.
13. What do you think is the most interesting thing about you?
This might not be interesting but I love all sorts of genres of music and people don’t normally believe me but I really do, one moment I would be listening to 50 cent then another moment listening to Rihanna.
14. What was your nickname at school?
I never had a nickname because no one could really come up with one for me, but in primary school I was the goody too shoes and also my sisters called me Sar.
15. What three things do you need to be successful in this industry?
I am still learning a lot of things to do with the modelling industry but I would say that what you need is to keep strong and don’t be afraid to be yourself and stand up for what you are about. Also motivation is key to get to where you want to be and that you are capable to do whatever you want, you just need to want it enough, work hard and be persistent.
