The lovely Rachael Owen first wondered about a career in modelling after watching shows such as Amecicas Next Top Model and the Victoria Secrets fashion show. Since getting a taste for modelling on a fashion shoot for a local fashion designer Rachael hasn’t looked back.
When did you first realise you wanted to be a model?
I’d say I realised I first wanted a career in modelling when I started watching the reality modelling shows, such as Americas next top model and the Victoria’s Secret fashion show was one of my biggest inspirations.
At what age did you first start modelling?
When was your first big break and how did it arise?
My biggest break when I was younger was when I first started modelling I went along to a shoot with a local fashion designer hoping to pick up some tips off the models working there, when I arrived there one of the models hadn’t turned up and I stood in her place! As one of the lead models ending up in the Liverpool Echo in a two page spread!
What would you say your biggest achievement is so far?
Appearing two newspapers and walking the Sivonna Fashion show Manchester.
How do you like to stay fit?
I absolutely love getting in a routine and attending Zumba, gym and fitness sessions weekly. I also joined two dance groups and done this for 2 years doing everyday daily sessions of fitness! When I can’t make it to the gym I love to mix up my routines at home as an important balance of fitness!
What’s your favourite food?
I am in love with fajitas! Any kind of chicken flavours with peppers and onion are to die for! But on the other hand I always love a good pizza!
Any advice on people wanting to start modelling?
To start you just have to have a dream, commit to it always keep trying when you get knocked down! Try and join with an agency but do your research on who is representing you as a brand. Always try and get involved with modelling projects. Remember your always starting from the bottom and building your way up to the top!
What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you recently?
I was in Birmingham for the clothes show live, checking into my hotel I was just putting my new Jean boots on in the car next minute I’m thinking nothing of it walking down the road to the hotel. My feet felt so strange but I didn’t even think! Then I looked down to realise that my shoes were both on the wrong feet and had to race back the car! Ahaha. I don’t no typical me I guess!
What song best describes you?
At the moment, Louisa Johnson so good describes me, for my wild side.
What would you be If you weren’t a model?
A dancer. I’ve always had a love for dancing and if I wasn’t modelling I would put more devotion into my dancing career. I would love to work abroad dancing on shows.
Tell me something about you not many people know?
I would say a lot of people don’t know that I can sing. A bit of a hidden talent!
What do you like doing in your free time?
Spending time with my friends going out to eat, partying, travelling and I love going on runs and going the gym to work on myself and my body. I also love listening to music relevant to my mood.
What do you think is the most interesting thing about me?
I think the most interesting things about me is my style everyday is a different style depending on how I’m feeling and That I’m always going on adventures.
What was your nickname at school?
A simple one really! Rach.
What three things do you need to be successful in this industry?
Firstly I’d say self love! That is the most important of all is to love yourself first which takes a long time but once you’ve got that you’ve got your life. Secondly to BELIEVE in yourself! If you don’t have that one power that you can do this then who is going to believe? Finally to be successful you need a good level of independence. You need to take matters into your own hands and work on achieving all your dreams!
