Stacie Mai is an alternative, fetish and fashion model. Despite not having the confidence in her younger years to take the steps into modelling Stacie finally took the plunge 5 months ago and hasn’t looked back. To find out more about Stacie check out our mini-interview below.
1.When did you first realise you wanted to be a model?
Growing-up I was always told that I should model, I was always interested but I just never had the confidence to go for it! As a kid I would practice my Model poses and Catwalk in front of the mirror and also with my friends. It was always a dream that I never thought I would fulfil!
2.At what age did you first start modelling
I started modelling about 5 months ago at the grand age of 27! It’s been crazy! I’ve had such a busy 5 months though, I really do wish I started sooner but I’m definitely making up for lost time!
3.What was your first big break and how did it arise?
I got asked to model at Sexhibition recently and that really opened me up to meeting a lot of great people in the industry. People were coming up to me and telling me that they love my work! It was awesome! It helped me to decide what direction I want to take my modelling in as well!
4.What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
So far I have been published in 2 magazines! With 2 more publications on the way in the new year. I never dreamt I could achieve that, especially in such a short amount of time!
5.How do you like to stay fit?
I stay fit with regular gym classes, about 3-4 times a week, but eating well has always been really important to me too! I LOVE cooking, so I always try and create healthy and fresh dishes!
6.What’s your favourite food?
But if I had to pick, it would be an authentic Thai Red Curry. I could eat one right now!! I love Asian food!
7.Any advice for people wanting to start modelling?
Go for it!! Get some portfolio shots done, apply for some casting calls, see what happens and embrace what makes you quirky and unique!
8.What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
I have been lucky enough to shoot a lot of beautiful latex recently, mainly by Westward Bound! We decided to do an outside night time shoot, thinking it would be really quiet. But we decided to do it at Eastgate Clock Tower, Chester, the 2nd most photographed clock in Britain! So of course, there was plenty of people around! So I’m just there, stomping around in killer heels and a shiny latex catsuit! People were watching from the streets below, the look on their faces was brilliant!
9.What’s song best describes you?
It’s probably a bit cheesy, but “Indestructible” by Robyn. She’s one of my favourite artists!
10.What would you be if you weren’t a model?
Well. My current day job is working as a Registered Dental Nurse, so I would still be doing that. Just without the part where I am constantly swindling time-off to go to photoshoots!
11.Tell me something about you not many people know?
Not many people know that I am actually a massive geek at heart! I love gaming, Call Of Duty, StarWars, Cosplay and attending ComicCons! I recently dressed as The Enchantress from Suicide Squad and Rey from The Force Awakens! We have a room at home dedicated to StarWars memorabilia and our puppy is named “Boba” after Boba Fett!
12.What do you like doing in your free time?
I am always SO busy, so if I have any free time I try to use it wisely! Catching up with friends, going to gigs or really important things, like playing Call Of Duty!
13.What do you think is the most interesting thing about you?
I would like to say something really cool like “I can run desert Marathons” but it’s probably something a bit less cool, like how I know all the words to ‘Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion’ and that I can rap “Get your freak on” by Missy Elliot faultlessly. I also like to collect taxidermy and animal skeletons, but that’s another story!
14.What was your nickname at school?
“Griff” but I still get called that to this day! Particularly in work! My surname is Griffiths, so it didn’t really take a genius to come up with that one!
15.What three things do you need to be successful in this industry?
Confident, respectful and thankful.
The industry can be tough, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a small industry and maintaining a good reputation counts for so much! Always remember the people who helped you on your way up! Everyone starts somewhere!
